I have been painting watercolors for over thirty years. I love their challenge, and the chance, when they work to capture the “essence” or “soul” of the subject. I am inspired by ancient holy sites, images, and stories ( possibly because I live in such a young city). I also love birds, especially in their natural habitat, both in their ability to camouflage themselves and to display themselves with vibrant color. Recently, I have been working more figuratively, focusing on the connection or lack of connection of people in community.
I am grateful for the support and guidance from the artists at Archway Gallery, Arthur Turner and Lucas Johnson at the Glassell School, and Polly Hammett at the Art League.
