Painting Figures in Landscapes - Intermediate students

Students will learn how to incorporate a figure or figures in a cityscape or landscape. The class will address lost and found shapes, as well as working specific wet into wet areas to produce a loose, finished painting. Shadows will be discussed for linkage.

Supply List for Painting Figures in Landscapes

Brushes:

#8 and # 12 or #14 round watercolor brushes

 

Watercolor paints, Preferred colors:

• Aureolin

• Raw Sienna or Yellow Ochre

• Permanent Rose

• Burnt Sienna

• Cerulean Blue

• Cobalt Blue

• Ultramarine Blue

• Winsor Green (optional)

 

• #2 pencil

• at least a quarter sheet of Arches 140# Cold Press watercolor paper  (11 1/4" x 15")

• water bucket

• paper towels

• table top easel (optional)  If you prefer to paint with a standing easel, please let us know ahead of time so we can accommodate that request. 

• scissors

 

• 4 - #4 bulldog clips (optional)  or blue painter's tape to secure your painting to the board

• rag or old cotton diaper to blot your brush

• kneaded erasers

• backing or Gator board for your painting
